It’s the beginning of the Ember months and from crime records, crime rates do go up higher during this period and with the tumbling economy, high unemployment and crime rates this has made it necessary for us to take more proactive measures to protect our selves.
Here are few tips for you.
Readily have on your phones local police emergency Contacts. Reach out to them immediately you need them.
Neighbourhood watch and other watch schemes such as vigilante are excellent are also
ways for communities to fight crimes. Get the Contacts of your neighborhood community leaders or CSOs and immediately call them in an event of emergency.
Report to the police immediately any case of theft.
Make sure that garden tools or ladder are not lying around in your compound they could be used to force entry into your home.
Enure that any security improvements you make to your house don‘t stop you getting out as quickly as possible in a event of emergency.
If you want an extra level of safety in your home, you can get a guard dog to protect you, your home, and alert you to danger.
Fit a spy hole on your door so that you can see who is at the door. Also have a door chain so that you can open the door a little way to talk to visitors.
At all times be conscious of happenings, events in your area and take caution always. Avoid same routes to your home. Don’t be predictable.
When you see something strange, do something about it. Security is everybody’s responsibility.
